May snow

Bonnie in snow. May 6, 2007Yesterday rain mixed with sleet and snow. This afternoon six inches of wet snow. Not a big snow for this time of year (it is not unusual to get 1-3 foot storms in April and May), but I was surprised after last weekend’s warm weather.

45 min bike ride with Bonnie this morning … before the snow. 45 min good pace swim at noon. Not a bad except when compared to the 3 hour road ride that was scheduled.

you’re disciplined. i don’t think i could run in snow now. i’m spoiled. … but if i had canine companionship with me (or an adolescent bear behind me), i’d run.

I didn’t run in the snow yesterday, but I do run in the snow…at least I used to when I ran. I have to say having a dog that needs exercise is a big motivator.

    Cathy,

Love the border collie in the snow picture. It looks like your still has her winter coat. Mine is shedding hers ridiculously.

Sorry to hear about the swimming set-back. Eeks, fast healing vibes for you!

Hi Meghan, funny that you should mention shedding today! I combed about 1 pound of hair from Bonnie’s coat last night. Bonnie always looks likes she has a winter coat, though it was particularly bad in that photo. She sheds like no dog I have ever known. Jessie was nearly twice her size, and no competition in the shedding department. I really need to groom her at least every other day to to keep things manageable. It took me a long time to break down and buy a Furminator, but it is the only thing I’ve found that works on her cottony fur. It doesn’t help that she HATES being brushed. I should add that I am thankful for Bonnie’s shedding. If she did not shed so much, it is likely she would not be my dog.
