but wouldn’t it be great if people did this monthly? or even 30 minutes weekly? it’s like “clean up australia day.” why not always do it? why do buildings in the city need to be so lit up? maybe we could just encourage constant brown-outs.
Monthly or weekly earth hours are great idea!! Then again if office and retail building were turned off when not in use the electricity saved would dwarf the savings of a few hours of residential lights-out. When I was in Stillwater, Oklahoma a few months ago I noticed that Petco had a sign that they were turning down lights at night. Don’t know if that is all Petcos or if was a local thing.
