He Can’t Be Bothered

So where was Bush for 3 days after the earthquake in south Asia? Cutting brush and bicycling on his ranch in Texas apparently. As the Minneapolis Star Tribune wrote, “The Bush administration’s handling of this crisis has been inept beyond belief.” In his speech Bush said the U.S. is sending $35 billion to the region. He meant $35 million. Bush spends that amount every few hours to support his invasion of Iraq and it’s estimated he will spend $30-$40 million on his upcoming inauguration.

The People Who Know You Best

Bush may try to convince us he has a mandate from the electorate, though it is clear the country was pretty evenly divided on Nov 2nd. However, the resignation of many cabinet members, as well as CIA personnel, suggests little confidence in his leadership from people who know what is happening behind the scenes. The departure of these government officials is more telling than reelection by voters largely ignorant of the facts.
