Let the healing begin

Buena Vista Canine Classic. 2005.The stress fracture that was not a stress fracture IS a stress fracture. It seemed pretty obvious when pointed out to me on the zoom-able, digital x-ray. I don’t know how I can possibly be ready for a 150 mile stage race in seven weeks. Maybe my boot will earn Bonnie and I sympathy points for our Frisbee freestyle routine. We can use all the help we can get and it certainly won’t improve our choreography.

you can dress the rest of the way up like a storm trooper and make little bonnie c3po. a theme. you’ll get the geek points.

Yes, a boot! My foot is very happy about it. Wish I had been issued one in February, but c’est la vie… Good idea about using the boot as a prop.

    Cathy,

Thank you for your kind comment over on my blog. Your thoughts are most appreciated.

So sorry to hear about your stress fracture. I had a tibial stress fracture in 2005, so I can relate a bit. I maintained good fitness through elliptical and road biking, though, in the meantime. I have a whole bunch of workouts (everything from LT to sprint workouts) for these sports leftover from those days. Let me know if you need ideas.

Also, I have a border collie, too! She doesn’t do agility or anything special like that, but she’s my most faithful running partner.

Hi Meghan, Border Collies are amazing companions. Jessie didn’t do anything “special” either … just ran, and mountain biked and skiied and snowshoed and climbed mountains with me tirelessly for 13 years. More than once she kept me from getting lost. With Bonnie I have to pay attention. Not that Bonnie doesn’t know where she is. She just thinks I know too. Jessie was not so confident.

Thanks for your encouragement. I tried the elliptical yesterday and I think it will work with the boot, at least for a few minutes at a time.
